2025-2026 PEF Grant Award Reciepents with the school board at the school board meeting on 11/11/25.

The Powhatan Education Foundation (PEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the learning experience for the students, teachers, and staff of Powhatan County Public Schools by promoting innovative educational opportunities, recognizing outstanding achievements, and developing community partnerships. Each year, the PEF awards Innovative Classroom Grants that present ideas for achieving the county’s curricular goals, enhancing students’ personal development, and/or encouraging links with the community.

This year, PEF received 17 grant requests. Seven grants were fully or partially funded, making the grant award total $16,168.99.

Congratulations to the following Grant Recipients:

  1. Loren Jacobs, a teacher at Powhatan High School, is being awarded $1888.99 for her project Touch & Learn: An Interactive Display to Ignite Curiosity in High School.

  2. Kelly Terry, a teacher at Flat Rock Elementary School, is being awarded $2775.00 for her project, Take a Future View Into Immersive Digital Learning with ViewSonic Interactive ViewBoards.

  3. Libbey Kitten, Instructional Specialist in Science, is being awarded $2000.00 for her project, From Powhatan to the Stars: Inspiring Student Curiosity with a Traveling Planetarium.

  4. Barbara Adcock, Pocahontas Elementary School, is being awarded $1960.00 for her project, Energy Transfer: Insulators and Conductors of Thermal Energy.

  5. Rebekah Crump, Pocahontas Elementary School, is being awarded $2545.00 for her project, Powering the Future.

  6. Jana Ford, Pocahontas Elementary School, is being awarded $2000.00 for her project, Second Grade Outdoor Learning Space.

  7. Athea Hudson & Tracy Ingle, Powhatan High School, are being awarded $3000.00 for their project, Renaissance Festival.
