• There is a change in the Elementary start times for this year: drop off begins at 8:25 am and the school day starts at 8:40am. Dismissal begins at 3:30 pm.

• August 18th: First Day of School Pre-K/Kindergarten last names A-M ONLY; First Day of School Grades 1-5

• August 19th: First Day of School Pre-K/Kindergarten last names N-Z ONLY; Second Day of School Grades 1-5

• August 20th: Second Day of School for all Pre-K/K

  • If a Pre-K or Kindergarten student arrives on the WRONG day, you will be notified to come pick up your child from school.

• This Parent Guide has additional information about the school year, including the parent/student handbook, important school contact information, meal prices, and more detailed information about parent drop off and pick up.

• For any transportation changes, please email FRES Parent Pick Up and your child’s teacher. Please be patient as arrival and dismissal takes a little longer the first few days.

Powhatan Strong: Family Connection Series

• Powhatan County Public Schools Student Services Department welcomes you to our monthly Virtual Coffee Chats titled Powhatan Strong: Family Connection Series. Each month, Student Services will present a different topic with strategies to support your students from home, policies and procedures at the division and school levels, and opportunities to ask questions of our Student Services Department members and guest panelists. The first session will be this Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 10 AM. During this session, we will explore the topic of student attendance and how our schools and community partners support our students with regular attendance at school.
